Tommys Christmas Wish

TOMMY’S CHRISTMAS WISH Tommy was a wee young boy, And asked mommy to write and Ask Santa for a special toy Tommy was only four years old, And lived with Mommy, As his Daddy, Brad, had gone to Canada, To find a job, The family was poor, and he Had to make an extra bob! What is daddy like he asked His mom Tommy’s mom began to hum A song that her son Well remembered, And that she knew Tommy treasured. Her husband had been away From home for over a year, This brought a tear To her eye for Tommy’s sake, He had not really known His dad, this made her sad, And hoped that Brad, Would soon be back. Tommy read his mom’s thoughts And asked that she must please Ask Santa to bring him back, That’s all he wanted for Christmas, As he missed dad and loved Him a stack! Tommy dozed off to sleep And mother Sandy knelt Down to pray, Please God let Brad, Come back even for Just a day ! In Iceland, Santa had started Packing his toys Right for the boys and Left for the girls Those were the ones, He had tied with Frills, whirls and curls! Elfs, pixies and Mrs. Santa too, All helped, they made a Magnificent crew. Santa was tired as he Packed the last toy On his sleigh, When he noticed a letter Floating his way! It was marked express mail, And Santa read it as he did All his mail, without fail! After he had finished reading Tommy’s letter from his mum, He patted his plump tum, And rubbed his beard, He knew where Tommy’s Dad was, Because, He had in error received A similar letter from Brad, Tommy’s Dad, That he was soon coming back. He was so sorry, He was away so long, He was working as a lumberjack They no longer had to worry He had made money, enough And he was hitching a ride With Santa, great stuff! For Santa had replied to Brad, And told him to be on the ready, And look out for a sleigh That was fast and not too steady, For Santa was getting old, And not quite as fast or bold! Santa picked up Tommy’s dad From Canada, Hey Santa, said Brad, You really do exist, Woaah! Drive carefully, There’s a lot of Mist! We’re landing, said Santa Put on your belt, Such fascination and awe, Brad had never felt! Loaded with presents, He tiptoed into Tommy’s room And woke up his son, There was such excitement Second to none, Both were over come And wept with joy, Sandy heard the noise, And ran to Tommy room, Happy Christmas darling he said, And Sandy cried, As she hugged her two boys! It was Christmas day, And Tommy and Sandy’s Wish had come true, Hope that families apart on This joyous day Come together, For that we all pray!

What a wonderful, tear jerking poem. My wish is that many families get together this year and celebrate love, kindness and happiness. Life is precious and can be short. Kim

You are so right Kim, and sad that many won't be, for they may have no family left, through perhaps the trauma of war, or simply growing very very old and surviving your, whole family! Thank you for your lovely comment, Hugs, Jenny.

A breeze of bliss, a rainbow of hope, poetry in abundance giving sweet dimensions for dreaming big, satisfying desires and wishes! A poetess with a masterful wand spelling her magic on her heartfelt and expressive words to create a work of beauty that goes deep in the heart and into my fave list. If only we could turn a nightmare into a dream! If only we could heal every carved pain and wipe out every single tear of a deprived child! A brilliant work worthy of honour dear Jennifer love and hugs.

Hi Besma, Glad its gone into your fav. list. Nightmares are such a frightful invasion - we are not conscious or unconscious and evil works its way into our dreams turning them sometimes into horrific nightmares. As for the poor, hungry and depraved children of this world, they break my heart - I wish I could be Santa every day of the year and shower them with food shelter, hope and love! Thank-you for a beautiful comment Besma, Love and kisses, Jennifer.

A beautiful way to start the evening, but I am just now reading it at evening's end. It is still beautiful, and heart-felt, and fun to read! Nice job, Jennifer, as usual.

Hi Lindsay, So Rico says also. But the competition out there to even have one poem noticed must be intense. Perhaps I should give it a bash! Thank for your comment Lindsay, i'll look into it. Best wishes Jennifer.

Well done, Jennifer! Couldn't you put your husband to work publishing your work in children's books? Aloha! Rico

Thank-you Chris, i have just packed all my sons toys that I had kept, and will be taking them to an orphanage tomorrow. I feel so sad for the children in war torn countries, afraid and cold and in poor 3rd world countries. My wish is that it pours happiness, peace and presents for them all. Best wishes Chris, Jennifer.

So glad that Tommy got his wish. Families should be together for Christmas whenever possible and Santa was kind enough to deliver Brad along with all the toys. Enjoyed your story told in lovely verse, Jennifer. I'm sending wishes for happy holidays out to you! Hugs, Carolyn

Hi Carolyn, Lovely to hear from you. Yes, Tommy got his wish just as we hope all the children of the world will. Unfortunately however, poverty is so rife in many 3rd world countries, that this will not be possible! Thank-you for a lovely comment! Carolyn! Love and hugs, Jennifer.
