KAREN, I loved your poem. It says exactly what growing up a tomboy is. I was definitely not girly girl. You should read my poem the Barbie conspiracy because it's a true story my dad/mom told me. It's quite comical. It's been mentioned here in other comments. In my day no one ever talked. Well I thought when I was in high school a senior, I could skate out after graduation join the Army and everything was cool. Ha. My mom forced me to date. Dated 3 times they got frisky..yep threw up haha. Tried

Growing up my tomboy was Peppermint patty from charlie brown. back then I never thought of genderchange. Never never ever. There was no such thing but we did have tomboys. and now I wonder what you are?

Oh my! Lol. I am a single mother a humble woman who enjoys being a woman and very feminine and yes as a black woman I have had my hard knocks but found someone who naturally understands and who is a gentleman i don't have to be strong all the time with. I can submit. Let a woman be a woman and a man be a man yet still be a feminist.

I remember so many tomboys from my youth, who became beautiful, strong, proud women... I wonder: Today, would they all be encouraged to undergo sex conversion therapy? (And I'm not kidding, either. What's going on at the elementary school level is unconscionable, methinks).

Hey Gershon, gender conversion does more harm than good because when young adults are forced to do this some commit suicide and then the parents regret that they even forced the issue. I'm against what everyone is letting kids do. For Heaven's Sake let them grow up and have fun as a kid and then when they become adults then they can make a decision about their identity and yes I'm probably one of the very few that thinks this. Schools don't have any any biz in parenting or this issue.

I agree. Kids should be able to develop grow and explore naturally without the extra. You will hit puberty with no needed help. With that comes natural maturity. Why is this wrong? No one under 18 naturally changes their pronouns. This is a culture change not a physical one! Just my opinion.

There was always something that attracted me to Tomboys, I just played barbie with my six-year-old granddaughter...I guess that makes me a Tomgirl (lol). Nice write, Karen. Charlie

No Charlie you are the coolest grandpa ever. You should read my poem called the Barbie conspiracy and I'm pretty sure you will get a real kick out of it and yes it is a true story told to me by my father who got a kick out of it when it happened. I'm a vet and Lez, also tomgirl. All Army Softball in FRG and Korea. Don't make her grow up too fast.

Hi Karen, This is quite relatable to so many little girls that aren't so little any more. I wonder if that term is used to describe a young female that engages in sports these days? God Bless you and hope you have a wonderful Christmas. Nancy

I don't keep up with today's terms. But there are much more of them as well as pronouns. May you and your family enjoy a joyful Christmas and be blessed as well.

Lovely times as we grew up, Karen. Now children are glued to the TV, computer games, or their phones.

Heya Karen, kids grow up so much faster these days, it’s difficult to assess and measure weather they have it better or worse now, but I think we were much more active and fitter because of little tv and no tablets, regardless I enjoyed your trip back down memory lane, a wonderful poem, cheers David
