Together Never

She cried as she sat on the phone with him. If only he knew, but he can’t know She’s never told him, and to realize it He’d have to hear the pain in her voice It had been months since she’d been with him But her heart still longed for his touch She still longed to hear I love you They talked every so often He would call just to ask how she was doing She’d answer fine, but she wasn’t Because every time she heard his voice Her heart broke all over again It had been her mistake She had been too young But she was older now, more mature He thought she was different There was nothing she could do about it now The mistake had been made Their paths parted forever All that was left, was that one phone call Every two or three weeks Where she listened to his wonderful voice And silently cried her heart out to an uncaring world But he never knew
