Todays Bouquet
It’s a blessed day
when I wake in the morning
and I can get myself up
make some tea and toast
or maybe a pot of strong coffee
to wash the cobwebs away
It’s a wonderful day
when I settle down to write
and words gather themselves together
to hang like leaves on a tree
a complement to the graceful trunk
bring my thoughts to live in rich harmony
It’s a joyous day
when friends come to share time
a meal and a glass of wine
laughter curls around with aromas
of each person mingled to taste
decadent like chocolate upon your plate
It’s a grateful goodnight
as I pull down the bed’s cozy covers
rest my body against the deeds of the day
count blessings gathered in my bundle
a memory bouquet holding the day’s petals
as the promise of tomorrow is never guaranteed
