Today I Wrote Poetry

There is a certain misery
That comes with daily routine

Conquering-
the memory
Of a life

         LeSS RESTRAINed

Creativity lost-
And the stars fade
Human natures-

          irrevocable mistake

Is it in our genetic make-up?
Where did this malfunction come from?
Designed with inner hallows
Never to be filled
Seek but never find
Cover your eyes
with dark glasses

clearly one cannot hide-
wide open
              EYES of deception

What is this shared familiar obscurity to the cold
leaving seeds to feed the future

                        Spoiled

In a perfect world....

 Today I wrote poetry

 Today I wrote poetry....

And that was enough

I love the way you organize your thoughts in a purposeful way. Highlighting the visual aesthetics of poetry, with spacing, capitalization, etc., not many poets write this way, and so when I see it done well, it's a standout. A fave from me. I too think that writing a poem is enough ... we shapers of words are easily content :)

Angie, yours is exquisite poetry of catharsis: absolution when sorrow, disappointment and ingratitude flank every dreary moment. Please keep writing.

Your comment brought me such joy. Thankyou for taking interest and leaving such beautiful words. I have been a writer for many years..poetry however as always had my heart. Over the past few years I not only quit writing, I swore it off. I always wanted to share my poetry with the world, believed at one time I had a lot to offer. Over time I became discouraged with the site I was on..I wont say one ill word of this community for it strengthened me as a writer and improved my critiquing skills to help others...when I was younger I used to go to poetry readings.Coffee houses filled with like minded poets I miss that.
