Today

Goodbye, the year
I shed no tear
For time now past
As shadows cast
The languished days away.

Come, I pray,
A brighter ray
Of sunny gleams
For future dreams
To hang my hopes therein.

Wherein now, I must begin
As minutes spin
The steps I take
Can lose or make
That, for which I hope; Today.

We can only look forward and hope for the best during the coming new year. You have expressed yourself quite well with fine descriptiveness and rhyming.
