To Whom It May Concern

To the Big Man who lives upstairs,
Can you tell me why I’m here?
What purpose do I really serve
Is this really what I deserve?

Mr Boss Man, who knows all my dreams
Please let one come true for me
I don’t ask you for much
Maybe that’s why my life is as such

To the Director of this universe,
Can you not see,
See what this world is doing to me
What must I do to make it through?

To the Great All Mighty, I’m on my knees
I’m saying my prayers and saying please
Please give me the strength to survive
Or give me the courage to use this knife

Let me be at one with you,
Take me to heaven show me the way
Please don’t keep me here anymore
This is not the life I signed up for

Please tell me Father of All, what must I do
I promise I’ll be good for you
If you keep me here, I’ll just find ways
Ways to make it through your gates

So please God, whoever you may be
Today I’ll put a pound in for another a dream
I’ve written you a letter , it’s in the box too
Promise me you’ll read it before I meet you

Its addressed to “Mama” but it’s really for you
Perhaps you could let her read it too
Hopefully amongst all the pain
You’ll see what I’m really trying to say.

And at the end I mean what I say,
Please keep all my family safe,
And if I do happen to leave
Please give them the strength not to grieve

So to the Creator of All, who gives me strength
Let me know what you think
Send me a sign, any will do
And I’ll let you know I’m always thinking of you

And as for Mama, I know she’ll be cross
Let her know I’m just lost
Maybe if she could light may way
I might just find the strength to stay.

So to God, the one and only
I’m sorry if this is a little moany
I’m just so tired, I need to sleep
My brain needs to re-charge and think

So please read my letter, if you will
And I’ll wait to hear what you think
Until that day I promise I’ll be good
And I’ll keep you with me to keep me safe

Ran out of room lol. I just want to make sure that you understand how well structured this poem is. I hope I didn't offend. I am giving it a 7 and adding it to my favorites. God bless!

Hi Anna thank you for your lovely comment! No you didn't offend...your right it can be read as a little ungrateful as it were...but you know when your down you often tend to ask questions to the great unknown...I look forward to reading your work and thanks for stopping by :-)

With religion aside, this is a BRILLIANT poem! I adore the way you found a different comparison for God (the one and only) at the beginning of every verse. I also love the whole idea of sending a letter and it being for mom, but not really. Although, "perhaps you could let her read it too." I love, love, love this! The only thing that has me concerned is the lack of glory and honor you give to Jesus Christ. There is only one God my friend. He went through so much suffering for us.
