To This Family
To this family,
I owe a great deal.
They help me to keep it,
oh, so real.
When I came out,
I didn’t know.
Exactly how far,
I would go.
At first in prison,
I was scared.
Not having anyone,
who truly cared.
They lifted me up,
in my hour of need.
And now for them,
I am willing to bleed.
They taught me love,
unlike I knew before.
They taught me honor,
and there’s still more.
They taught me respect,
which I give to you.
They taught me integrity,
in all that I do.
They taught me pride,
each and every day.
They taught me togetherness,
in every way.
They taught me more,
then I can put in here.
This family is made up,
of the ones I hold dear.
They opened my eyes,
so that I could see.
This love that I give,
they give back to me.
Nothing can stop,
the way I feel.
To this family,
I owe a great deal.
