To the One Who Holds My Heart

You are so gorgeous, the "extra" in extraordinary seems simple beside you. I'm the simp to your simplicity. You're a walking paradox of life and death. You kill me with your eyes, and with your voice, you raise me from the dead.

I can't stop thinking about how you brought my heart back to me instead of taking it hostage, or worse, tearing it apart like the rest of humanity. I was ready to give it up as a token of love, but you gave it back, saying it was mine to keep. And if you were to love me, you would love every part of me unconditionally, without taking anything away from me.

I do not just miss you. Sometimes my heart is still with me, but every beat belongs to you. If you could walk through my heart for just one day, you would see that every corner of it carries your name. If you could read my mind, you would understand that I would give it all up for you in a heartbeat.

I feel like I'm walking through fire whenever I feel you near. Your words breathe life into me. Every breath I take testifies to your presence. Where else could I go looking for answers when every truth leads me back to you?

Every day with you is like listening to my favorite song. Every moment around you makes the world feel brighter, and every memory more precious. I feel incredibly lucky to have someone as wonderful as you by my side. Your beauty, your kindness, and the way you make me feel are truly unmatched.

You are the calm in my chaos, the light in my darkness, and the reason my heart still believes in love. If loving you means giving you every piece of me, then I would do so without hesitation, because every part of me already belongs to you.

And if the world ever asks me what love looks like, I'll simply tell it your name.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

We liked how you flipped the usual love lines, especially "walking through fire" paired with how their words breathe life, makes the whole thing feel real and raw, not just sweet talk. Cool stuff, Murithi!
