Notes About The Poem

To the One That Got Away

Thank you,
          the one that got away.
          It's no use wondering
            what might've been
        We were never meant be.
              I do wish you well.

                    Thank you,
           the one that got away.
           A little birdie told me
           you did steal the heart
of another; I wish you both the best!
It's the way destiny intended it.

                    Thank you,
           the one that got away.
           Our spark of romance
never lit as we were much
         too young to understand
           what love meant then.

              Thank you so much,
             the one that got away,
            because you've led me
to my true love, my precious
                jewel of a wife.
It's the way destiny intended it.

I like your approach to this, Edward, as a thank you note. An acknowledgement that it was not meant to be and your life turned out even better. Congratulations on your win ~ John
