To the Moon
I sacrificed my eyes for a sight so elegant
To see that which gave us life
To see beyond what lies ahead
For I felt an answer somewhere far away
Is it not what shines so bright, I wonder
For it grew something beautiful
And never have I known the world to be so small
For every man throughout time has seen it
Yet rarely do we truly understand
As we cast our gaze upon the soft morning sky
Time is forever irrelevant
For in this moment
So am I
To see something shared through eternity
To watch it slowly rise
Never could you ask for more
For in this single moment
We can see through every man’s eyes
From our latest moments
To the beginning of time
Yet soon will it be just another day
Morning dew slowly melting away
But perhaps it was I who, fell
Down unto earth to catch this glimpse
For I could never let it go
Never free to truly see my own sights
Desperation thins upon my hands in which its wrapped
Soon to be truly free, even if just a moment
For freedom taught me naught but man to be simple
For in complexity we are blinded
Never to feel the wind flowing like a gentle ocean
To close our eyes and see us within the cosmos
For no fewer things can bring us peace
As shame has never lied within the truth
For this universe brought us forth
It is here we will forever remain
Whether moving or in ashes, we will be one
As we live within a paradise of sights unseen
For man blinds himself with fear
Never to open his eyes unto the truths of the sky
Let us one day walk freely
Smiling at every new star
For nothing ever seemed so beautiful
Nothing has ever made me feel so peaceful
But what is truly, truly far
