To See Sea Sheep

Once wading through a rising tide Against a bloody red suns glare What should I see grazing on algae But several sea sheep were there! I'm not sure how many there were Not that the water was too deep But when I tried to count them all It made me want to fall asleep! I looked closer and saw a scuffle Of which at first, I was not aware I was surprised to see before me A sea wolf in sheep's clothing there! I've not seen the sea sheep again Since the sea wolf made his attack But I did see a sea wolf huff and puff And blow a snails home off its back!

How awesome this creature is and I admire the whimsical tone of your poem. Look at his "face"! Did you really encounter one? (I'm a bit skeptical of the sea wolf, but love the way the yarn is stretched.) There is also a tasty fish locals sometimes hook at the pier called Sheepshead because of its buck teeth. You certainly keep me laughing!

I didn't encounter one but only saw an article on "Bing" about them. They are real as far as I know. The sea wolf maybe not so much.. 80) .. I love the little face as well. Thank you so much for commenting Carolyn!!!!....pat

G'day Pat … at first I thought; hang on, is this one of Pat's imaginary animals that requires underwater shearing. Very interesting indeed Pat - thank you - Lindsay

Thanks for my new factoid of the day, love the picture (though sea sheep is kind of a tongue twister!)

I know right! I first saw them on my Bing home page. On comments on the article, someone said they thought it looked more like a cow. I can see that. A white fluffy cow but still............Thanks for commenting Michelle!!!...Pat
