To Rise and To Fall

Some people say
that loving souls 
in positions of power 
are ideally 
going to be 
someone with 
a great duty
to the greater world
as well as 
a personal goal
to try to 
improve themselves.

Others believe
that a good soul
who cares about others
ultimately knows the value
of relying 
on self-reflection 
and avoiding 
the brutal violence 
and the pillaging 
of our wealth.

There are others
who think 
sad souls 
in positions of power 
think they are too great
and make excuses 
while refusing change
and growth 
instead of 
mastering the hand 
they were dealt.

Being cruel 
to everyone
and never 
ever apologizing
for anything bad 
that they do 
and failing to grow
is exactly how 
these souls arrive 
in the shadow realm.

To wind up
in the 
shadow realm
is to face 
extensive spiritual karma 
that forces you 
to rethink 
your entire life 
from the 
first house 
to the twelfth.

So we do 
what we must
to learn 
from their mistakes; 
for we know
this is 
a time period 
where everyone 
has to 
check themselves 
before they 
wreck themselves.

I walk away 
from conflicts
in the name of
a deep peace
that keeps me
from suffering
so I can
bring my people
more light --
because 
community spirit
doesn't belong
abandoned 
on a shelf.
