Worlds apart, a newlywed infantryman in the trenches pens a missive to a wife he left behind and this is what he had to say.... "My Dearest, I'd travel light-years away to reach and touch you... I'd hitch my wagon to the moon if that's what it takes I'd go anywhere, and I don't mean maybe I'd reach the end of a star's lifetime I'm up to the challenge, no distance is too far I'd gladly embrace any impossible adventure Nothing seems impossible. To reach and touch you... I'd go through a four-alarm fire, or die trying I'd go through the most rugged of terrains I'd walk past twilight into dawn, to reach and touch you I'd make my way through vast back countries I'd make my way through barren deserts, up and over peaks of the mighty Himalayas I'd sail across the Pacific. To reach and touch you, I'd do anything, and I'd go anywhere because... you're worth all the effort, my sweet No matter what happens, win or lose this war, everything will be okay In life and death, I'm eternally yours. Your one and only LOVE." STRAND CHOICE N,any theme, any form Contest (Winner: Honorable Mention) Sponsored by Brian Strand Date submitted: 03/20/2020 Date written and posted: 01/30/2019
