* This is my first Rondeau, (for a contest) ... I hope you like it! *

To paint with words and colored phrase, We breathe new speech and set ablaze The hearts once cooled, bereft their fire, Now brought to life through told desire, And splashing verse in poignant praise. Our canvas aches to speak the ways We'll shape the bourgeois to amaze, And through our poems thus aspire ... To paint with words. We fill our nights and start our days, By finding tropes to bright, rephrase The common things our lives require, And if we're blessed, perhaps inspire Another soul that greets our gaze ... To paint with words. ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Rondeau" Poetry Contest, Charles Messina, Judge & Sponsor. (Syllables = 8, 8, 8, 8, 8 / 8, 8, 8, 4 / 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 4, counted at HowManySyllables.com) ~ Honorable Mention ~ in the "Strand No 700, Any Form Any Theme" Poetry Contest, Brian Strand, Judge & Sponsor.

" rephrase / The common things our lives require" - Yes! Poetry defined in seven words. You have often inspired this soul that has greeted your gaze. A fav, Greg. Glad to see you entered this contest - I'm afraid I would have missed this gem otherwise. Great use of the rondeau form. Best, John
