To My Special Ps Friends

As the last chime of midnight 
brings in a new year
I think of my son 
Oh I wish he was here
But I just want to say 
to my special PS friends
As a new year begins
and another year ends
I thank you all so much
For your love was like a gentle touch
From all corners of the globe
like a flashing synchronized strobe
Daily I received 
so many kindly words of comfort 
To hold me up 
when I fell apart
devastated with a broken heart
My friends I’m eternally grateful
So I send you 
my love 
and my thanks
To my special PS friends
I wish a Happy New Year
and the biggest ever thank you
to you all for being here

David Smith January 20, 2020 at 9:37 PM I was an early childhood teacher for thirty ears. I watched with sadness but not devoid of hope for those little ones who struggled to make friends, but it only gets harder the longer one delays taking the first steps in forming friendships to last the years. I visit a friend once a week and we pig out on chocolate and I read my latest poem while drinking coffee that is occasionally fortified.
