To Love You

"I'm poor," I said.
"And I am scared
Of drowning you
When bills are due."

          You said, "we're fine
          And in due time
          Your work will be
          Worth it, you'll see."

"My wish for you
Is someone who
Can always go
Where you will go."

          "I'm fine alone
          When you can't come.
          I know you'll heed
          My real needs."

"I'm not enough,
I'm not as tough.
Look out the door,
They are much more."

          "I used to pray
          One day I may
          Find someone who
          Is just like you."

          "When things are bad
          Or I am sad
          It's you I want
          To hold my hand."

"And every night
When I am tired
What joy to see
You are with me."

          "Until we're old,
          I'd feel like gold
          If I'd still have
          All of your love."

So, now I know
I'll never flee.
Let's tie a rope
'Round you and me.

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to PS, Kabayan. Meanwhile, I welcome you with the love of God. According to John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.

Thanks for the welcome, Kabayan! :) I am indeed new here. Planning to read and write more poetry, and hopefully improve through time. See you around.
