To Know You

I seek to see
you with the power
of my eyes

I seek to touch
you with the tips
of my fingers

I seek to feel
your love as you
embrace me
Lord from afar

Yet Lord are you
not Spirit, an eternal
life, that will abound
forever…

So even if I touch a
leaf on a tree I will
also, find a part of
your living essence
within it

For you Lord are
everything that is,
and everything is
A part of you

There is nothing that
exists without your
breath of life to
empower it each day

For your life is the
spirit inhabiting
our bodies so when
we reach out to touch
You…

Can we not also touch
a red rose that blooms
early in the morning
and know we have touched
a part of you also

Can I not look at the
sky and watch the power
which propels clouds
to fly while enjoying
it’s blueness that is a
a painters background
and not also see you?

Can I not feel your love
as the sun awakens me
with its soft kiss of
warmth and know that
I have felt you, Lord?

For you are a part of
all that lives, so I need
not see you with my
eyes to know that you
are always close to me.

For your life, your love,
your spirits lasting embrace
reaches all life I meet…

Making your entire being my
most precious treasure as its
lasting imprint will always
be alive spiritually with me.
