To Hold You

to hold you in my arms, my dear
to kiss your lips so sweet
to hear your heart beat
next to mine would be pure ecstacy

but while a moment's pleasure
with you would be divine
it could never be worth the pain
we would be sure to find

though sometimes my heart is heavy
i have said goodbye to misery
for our friendship is a precious thing
and a friend you have indeed

Exactly... I sure can relate to those kind of memories. Espeically the one that could have remained a friend much longer if the lines hadn't been crossed.. Well written

I've had a situation like this, a good friendship is tough to give up for a relationship you know will probably fail. An almost impossible situation, very nice words here! MC
