To Hold a Seed
to hold a seed
is to grasp all of life's meanings
beauty hides within
in an anticipated birth
that can unfold in any color
reach any height
array itself beneath the sun
drink freely of God's given light
grow to any shape
encompass a mountain
fill any meadow
uses any path
the world produces its transport
no distance is too great
to its fruition
and once life begins within
its sojourn has but one destiny
to make another seed
some may falter, life has chances
a roll of the dice
but the will of the majority
cannot fail their destiny
sitting on this bench
it is easy to see
the world is a wonder to behold
seeds will not be deterred
i know this fate intimately
every time i cup your cheek
gaze into your eyes
taste the dovecote of your lips
as butterflies pell-mell within me
i discovered where Earth wanted me
when that tumbleweed seed
came to rest at your feet
