Notes About The Poem

For the 'For the story' Poetry Contest of Suzette Richards

____________________________________________________________________

To Create My Story

My story need not involve a person’s glory
though I hope it will be interestingly oratory
and preferably self-explanatory
rather than overly expository.
To titillate my readers, I could even make it just a wee bit gory.

I like how you told a story in such a short burst of poetic brilliance. I like monorhyme poems too for the fun challenge they present. Thanks for sharing this with us, Andrea.

Great write, Andrea! I particularly like the middle lines. I think it's a much better way of saying the oft-repeated "show, don't tell" advice.

Thanks. I had a line before the last one that I decided to remove. Probably was wise to do

You can't go about titillating on a bible site, you'll be struck down. In saying that, I like the gory glory expository.

Love the rhymes here dear sweet Andrea. A wee bit gory you can make it seem or not your story is definitely special in its own way as always. I love the flow and cadence of your word weaving especially love the line "My story need not involve a person’s glory" felt that deeply! The strength in your words are worthy of accolades! Oh, what a creative write this is, dear Andrea. I love the end rhymes here and how you've made everything feel so intriguing here, making affirmations amid statements of one's self. Wonderfully crafted for the contest, good luck. Sending you best wishes and light ~
