To Believe
Watchful little fairies
Dance within my mind
They ask who I could come to trust;
The first one of my kind
I shush them quickly and quietly,
Gentle reprimand;
Say that I would waste away
As one who’d known my land
Portals to a cloudless sky
Filled with a crying air;
Souls that cover that listless blue
Were born unto despair
Conversing as age foretold-
Prophecy never spoken;
Sighs were tripping through the wind;
Duly ended broken
Dropping through a bottomless tunnel
To a word when I’d been afraid
Found the bottom littered with blackness
Of laughter too soft to convey
Stepping forward to stumble back
As a declaration did fearfully start;
Quaking with knowledge of awaking love
And butterflies in my heart
