To Be Set Free

I hear behind me
the fleeting  sounds 
of a large green alligator 
slithering through the weeds

it snaps at my butt
and takes a smallish  chunk of me 
setting me free
to ponder 

behind a tree
how lucky 
one can be 
to be set free.
