To Be a Man
What does it mean to be a man?
The answer is uncertain, but
I know that being a man
Is not what it’s made out to be
My body is not like the ones
On magazine covers, my
Hair is not as coarse as the hair
On his chest, and his voice
Reverberates in a way
Mine never could
I’m too short, too fat,
Too feminine, too nice,
Too emotional, too uncertain
But why is it wrong to
Be a man and cry?
I cry for our masculinity
Because if it’s so easy to break,
What is the point in having it?
