To all AI Users

To all AI users

There once was a girl, Sandra Dee
Who claimed her poems, AI free
Her writes were perfection
But on closer detection
Seeing through, was easy to see

So, what to do with this kid
Do we shout at PS to get rid
Or give her chance
Her poetry enhance
Till she writes with what’s in her lid

Sometimes I’m sure, can be done
If we’re not, too quick to shun
With some persuasion
The realization
That real writing is not so dumb

Are you taking yourself for a ride
Is there really a sense of pride
In cheating your brain
When you know you could reign
It’s that poet inside must decide.

Probably an unsolvable problem, now that AI poems can be humanised. I do employ AI checkers for my contests but cannot say how infallible they are. Congratulations on POTW with this relevant message, Richard.

Nicely done, Richard! AI should be programmed not to be able to write it. Congrats on POTW! Warm Regards, William

I am not a robot, either. Let the true poets truly express themselves. Congrats on your POTW.

Dear Richard, congratulations on an awesome POTW. I think at the heart of it, people just want to belong. Some turn to AI because they wish they could write, and maybe don’t feel good enough. Everyone’s just trying to express something, to be seen, to be heard, and lets admit it they must love poetry or they wouldnt be here...Hugs

Way to go Rich. I have trouble understanding the allure of being recognized for something someone didn’t create themselves.

Hello Richard, Congrats on POTW! So sharp, clever and just beneath the limerick humor which is deeply needed. What I admire most is how you invite honesty about AI without shaming how you challenge with a wink instead of a wagging finger. Poetry is all about the heart. Excellent! Blessings, Richard, Daniel

Like Beryl, I, too, check many of my poems on various AI checkers with the result indicating my poems were AI poems. Not true. This is a big issue with folks relying on non-human algorhytms to pass judgment on humans...there's something ironic about that.

Richard, I checked one of my poems on an AI checker and half of it came up as AI, I’ve never used AI to write poetry, so how can that be explained. Congratulations on having received poem of the week, great poetry… Beryl

My husband cant write a poem to save him, but I made him write something, then put it through GPTZero, it was 89% AI, I then put it through again and it was 100% human. Can we even trust these detectors? How do we know theyre not being trained on our poems? Room for thought.

same thing happened to me. I don't trust the AI checkers

Congratulations on your POTW, Richard. Well-written as a Rhyme poem, just as good as 5 verse Limerick. Very creative way to make a point. Thanks for sharing. A poet in Texas, Bill

It's nice to see poets speaking up for kindness instead of spite, tolerance instead of hate, understanding instead of ostracism. There are those of us trying to propose solutions involving a measure of compromise. Attacking the problem intelligently instead of attacking fellow human beings is the rational approach. It's important to remember these folks probably have families they love who love them back, productive jobs that contribute to their respective communities, charitable endeavors

So they have this particular flaw they're struggling with. Who isn't struggling with some flaw or another? Why throw stones? Enjoy your special week

Dear Richard, it seems you and I have written about ' artificial intelligence, ' yet, mine is completely different. Yes, this subject is hot off the press, for sure. I agree it's very wrong to cheat, but while it's being called out, I'm trying to embrace the heart of poetry the best I can. This place is only as dramatic as you make it. That's certainly not me and my personality. No matter what ! I hope you're able to enjoy the ' pleasant side of poetry. ' Congratulations on receiving Poem of the Week. Hugs, Brandy

Congratulations on your POTW win. I enjoyed reading your powerful "To all AI user" write. I have written a number of writes about AI on my pages here on Soup. I feel writers write from their hearts. AI has No heart to write with. It would be nice if Soup had an AI area for the AI writers. Maybe they should ask for one. It would also be nice if the AI writers would list they are AI writes. "Written By AI" on the bottom of their work. On my page I list, "Written By Human Poet" on the bottom of my work. Have a blessed day with your win.............

Thanks Paula, Don’t think PS is interested in making any changes to accommodate AI users. I’m not going to be around for a while but will look up your poems soon.

Congratulations on the POTW! Clever Lim's and I couldn't agree more, Richard. I've seen a poet’s beautiful poetry of their own, as well as ai. I'm wondering if the Ai poems used, were to get a certain message or version across, who knows but it got me thinking, we should give poets a chance. You said, "an appeal to their better nature might make one or two think on it, I don't know but we must try." Kindess rules over hate. We can only make this wonderful site better with poets like you! Cute Sandra Dee reference, I met the real gidget at the Laemmle 'twas her documentary movie! I <3 PS

Thanks for your comment Anaya, It’s wait and see how it goes now, as most seem to have accepted this imperfect situation.

Richard, a powerful poem. I view the cheaters, plagiarizers and AI users as fake poets. If they could write their own poems then why would they use these methods. Congratulations on POTW.

Thanks Tania, There’s no knowing what motivates people to cheat, unfortunately I think it’s something we’re going to have to live with.

Many congrats on POTW Richard, I see someone has already replied to your comment made for me, it shows a total lack of respect but as Deb's blog has proved, we are used to it. The use of AI is killing real poetry, it saddens me that people can't think for themselves and we know folk aren't honest by posting AI and plagiarised poems and claiming them as their own. hugs jan xx

Hi Jan, Lovely to see see you my old friend. I know the situation seems hopeless, maybe an appeal to their better nature might make one or two think on it, I don't know but we must try. Take care, Richard

Hi Tommy, Much as I dislike the use of AI, I don’t believe they should be hounded, somehow they must have a real interest in poetry .

Excellent string of poems, Sadly Richard those who post AI and those who post plagiarised poems would never admit to it and have no shame , It saddens me to see how the site has deteriorated recently, Jan x
