To a Point

TO A POINT As the wedge thins to the end And all options have dissipated Time for alternatives has passed Just straight on into the buffers Maybe then this crazy life of late Hurtling on at increased pace Will stop and pause for breath Perhaps to rearrange the pieces And never again to wonder What else it could have been Except a full persistent drive To reach the end, now in sight Then sadly, maybe to realise This is it, as was meant to be To have lived and been loved And loved to the full in return No inscriptions on grey stone Except perhaps to be missed That will at least be something As real as any good memory
