To a Friend
The beauty spilling from your pen
engraved the loneliness of night
and sketched the morning’s vivid light.
And all your passions placed therein
enticed each verse to tease the tongue
to sing your stanzas that we sung.
Evoked emotions deep within
from scribbled words to light our day,
reminded all you’d passed our way.
And if our souls ne’er pass again
we’re better for your gift of grace
that made our world a better place.
We’re blessed to say we knew you when
we'd found this place where words impart
to let our muses fill the heart.
The beauty spilling from your pen
and all your passions place therein
evoked emotions deep within,
and if our souls ne’er pass again,
we’re blessed to say, we knew you when.
