To 7 year old me

I closed my eyes and drifted time Forever young playing in the back of mind All I saw was 7 year old me Sat at the table, all alone "She left us Gog, gone away, there will not be another day" Looking around i come to see This is my home but this is not me Why did she leave, didn't she see She promised it would always be her and me Crying now is all I hear Oh I wish someone would hold me dear But hearts are broken, lives on hold "She's gone now Gog with no goodbye It just really wasn't her time" I open my eyes back in present day The memories of yesteryear not gone away I have to go and save that girl I have to hope I can bring her home There was no more laughter after that day All that followed was more pain What used to be a safe place to be Was never again home to me So let me say if I can, me and that girl stand hand by hand I need to take her out that place and tell her we did make our break Through all the years of pain and torture We also smiled and cried with laughter Not everything went our way But hey she needs to know that's OK We got married and moved away The one we trusted the most however didn't want to love us forever But life is cruel we know that, let's not ask for anything back. I have to get her out that house To save the girl who made me, me Let's leave that place and go away Life begins when we're free She maybe 7 but she's also 38, Me and her are now safe. I know Mama left us one December day And Life was never ever the same But through all the things our eyes have seen, please don't ever lose our dreams You are safe now and back home No longer stuck in that dark room Close your eyes or look above The world is big but can be tough You are safe away from pain Our life really did turn out great She maybe 7 but she's also 38 Me and her are now safe
