Tissue Box

Though it has been five and twelve years
and you are both now tucked safely deep
in the unfathomed depths of sub-conscious
At times you still invade troubled dreams

Oozing cold sweat; wrestling unseen demons
Jolting half awake and bolting upright
(No-no-no-why-where have you gone)
I find it placed conveniently at arm's length

A trembling, fumbling hand reaches out
to grab hold and blow away memory…

Way to place me into the scene Tim! I love how the title and content help each other to create a bigger picture, and add more clarity to your meaning. I find cremation somewhat unsettling though. My mom says she'd rather be cremated and let go into a place where she loved to be... rather then held onto for years to come. Good luck on the contest!

wow, what a powerful poem. Oh gosh, Ilene down here said that too. I am noticing everywhere I go, she is saying stuff similar to what I want to say. I think she and I sure think a lot the same. Anyway, I love this. Is there some box contest going on? Yours is second one I have seen since I just got here.

Wow..........intense and gripping. Leaves one in the cold sweat of the nightmare/dreamland of grief.
