Tis You

‘Tis You’ It’s a tempestuous, wuthering, wuthering day as I set forth exuberant and merrily on my way. I pause to hearken to the symphony of sound as natures harmony plays and swirls all around. Ignited flaming thoughts to fill a love sonnet as I march on and grasp my dishevelled bonnet. Singing with a lilt - the moors copious with heather, I am blown to and fro like a weightless feather. I hither towards the midst of my burning desire; Longing making my feet rapid as if on fire. If I was today my sweet love, my kiss to miss, Nay - I must not surrender and think only bliss. Romance - oh the seductiveness of it all! Cascading down upon me like a waterfall. Each rising, descent, of the sun as day goes down, Submerged in his love I rhapsodically drown. Since thine I have always pledged to forever be, My ravenous eyes shall only seek to find thee. I surge on until the glorious sight that I behold appears suddenly before me like a treasure of gold. The apparition manifests and it seems to glisten as I catch my breath through squally weather to listen. A tuneful, loud whistle from a source closest to my heart, A call for lovers to reunite - no longer apart. I knew my love would come being no creator of sorrow, And I shall yearn again for him till it be morrow. Thou art more to me than my own self - all life together; He of sun-rays, moonbeams, his divine light altogether. Joyful musical notes, a bonnet, in the wind left behind, As I cry out ‘tis you’ and in loving arms, myself, I find.

This is so lovely and romantic. I like the reference to the bonnet and how it appears again at the end . " In the wind left behind . . ."

Such passion you have! I'm thinking this seems so well written and beautiful to read. This is so strong it makes me wonder is it real or fantasy. It's hard for me to deal with such potent purity of feeling since my own life is a jig saw puzzle of compromises. Just thinking about it makes me laugh a bit. TY!!

I’m an old romantic by heart Duke and it’s pure fiction. I really enjoyed creating this narrative being an admirer of classic literature - I love Hardy, Austin, Brontë’s. I had Bronte’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ in mind when my quill set to work and I’d read 50 classics so was really in the frame of mind for some old fashioned romance! Thank you for reading it. :):)

Christina this is breathtaking. Few poems make me wish they hadn't ended. This one did just that. The tender love it portrayed was divine. I couldn't have wished for a more perfect Ballad of lovers. Simply lovely. Thank you sweet Christina.

Oh what can i say! your 'cascading like a waterfall', to, 'i rhapsodically drown' is profound! You describe intimately with the reader the depth and total immersion that only this kind of LOVE can bring. Within nature and wild nature are we truly with spiritual love and here in your poem i really feel it. Thank you for this poem. xxjaninexx

Hi Christina. This brought back fond memories. Those wild and wuthering heights I know them well. From Hebden Bridge to Haworth, a tale to tell. I often used to walk that Pennine way. But now I'm down to a few steps a day. Tony.

Whilst reading your lovely poem, Christina, I sensed the pages turning in Emily Brontë's one and only novel, I sensed a touch of Hardy and..I have to add..I heard and saw Kate Bush in between the lines! :) Tis You (It's Me..I'm Cathy..etc etc). There is so much emotion in your heartfelt lines here. I really enjoyed the read. Cheers - Gary

Gary, thank you so much for your visit and lovely comments. Yes, it’s a shame that she didn’t write any other novels but ….what a novel it was! You are right- a bit of lovely Hardy thrown in as well. Whilst on holiday in Dorset a few years ago, I paid homage to his grave (being my literacy hero. What a moment for me!) I was intrigued with Kate Bush so investigated and can see what you mean. So glad you enjoyed it. My thanks again.

Gorgeously Victorian, visions of the Brontes, Emily comes to mind on first line of reading, but flows and billows into the arms of a wilfull ghost on climax. Beautifully written. I love it.
