Tired of Tired Cliches

Why a 'needle' in a haystack What's it doing there And 'a stitch in time 'saves nine' ~ If nine more stitches, who cares And who ever cries over 'spilled milk' I'm certainly not of that ilk If 'a penny' saved were a MILLION earned Then perhaps I'd dress in silk All I'm saying here, my friends Is it might be wise to analyze Why we say, 'Want fries with that' ~ Why risk eating your hat

These are a hoot Gershon. My mother was full of them, "well if that isn't the straw that breaks the camel's back". You gotta love them though! I think American's are the Kings and Queens of Cliches these days. I enjoyed this immensely Gershon. Thank you! Blessings xxoo

We are very cliche-ridden, just as we are full of slang. Makes things hard for non-native speakers; that's for sure. ~ Happiness and Health, gw

In high school, I was talking to mom in our kitchen about guys. She says: There’s more fish in the boat. And I say: and they’re all dead. So the best is when someone, especially moms and dads get the clichés wrong! Here’s another: My husband was scolding two of our kids. He says to them: Stop dishing me. They almost fell on the floor laughing. This was in the kitchen too. I’ll let you see the humor in that.
