Time Waited Between Us
When you came to talk have I ever I told you
that there was nothing else left for me to say,
when everything said and unsaid you knew
the words seemed to have lost their way.
When you came to listen have I ever told you
that there was nothing else left for you to hear,
when no sound seemed to ripple as another new
the known voice you heard was never so near.
When you looked at me close have I ever told you
that there was nothing else hidden in me to see,
when everything for you was in the clear view
my transparent visage showed the dreams in me.
When you came to seek have I ever told you
that there was nothing else left for you to want,
when no more roots of waning yearning grew
desires dried premature facing the reality’s brunt.
When you wanted to fly have I ever told you
that there was no more sky left for you to span,
when the birds of longing forgot the way they flew
time waited between us to realize the ordained plan.
