Time Sighs

Time flies, at least that's what they're saying
I'm not inclined to believe it soon
It etches slowly on, as if we're slowly dying
Trapped here in an endless turn of the moon

Time flies? I've been here forever now
Watching as clouds refuse to roll by
My eyes are tiring from the attempt
As the earth too lets out a sigh

I always thought that time flies. Now you have painted a CLEAR picture of something of a foot-dragger, etching slowly on. A very convincing piece. It is right to write...

I liked the way you shine a different perspective on this, Juli! It almost felt like time stood still for a while as I read this. Good job! Thanks for your visit to my work. :)

this is outstanding poetry, Juli. I still think it flies but for the deeper meaning of universe without end, yes, it sighs!!

Nice wordplay here. It all depends on your perspective I suppose. The irony is that when things are good, the hours fly too fast. While when things are drab, time likes to drag endlessly on. I liked the images of staring clouds move by... I have found myself doing the same and not even realizing it. Good work!
