Time Ruins Dreams

‘If I have the time’ is the phrase that ruins dreams,
If you listen to the excuses of those who fail, it seems.
It’s never due to talent or potential in their lives
It’s always due to time, upon which their failure thrives.

‘I could have been a football star or movie star’ they’ll say,
‘If I only had the time then it could have been that way’.
‘So, what is the thing, that steals your time?’ I ask,
Because each and every day contains enough hours for any task.

Maybe time is different for each individual soul,
Maybe that’s why they cannot, ever reach their goal, 
Or maybe there’s a gremlin who always steals their time,
Maybe I’m just lucky that he never steals mine.

‘If I have the time’ seems to be an epidemic
Therefore, failure to do the things we need is surely academic,
Or maybe, just maybe, it’s a convenient excuse
And ‘if I have the time!’ is the phrase we all abuse.
