Time Marches On

Time marches on

Vs 1
I tried to escape the truth...
Tried to fight the fleeing- strength of my youth
Never thought I would succumb...
To the incessant, beating of the drum

Bridge
The rug was pulled out from under my feet
but, I'll keep on dancing 'til there's no more beat
Shook the foundations of all I believe,
but I'll do my best 'til I get my relief.

Chorus
Time marches on without me (without me)
Seconds and minutes surround me (surround me)
I'll leave without a sound-
buried underground....
Remember me

Verse 2
The bubble had to burst...
Couldn't hold it-now, I'm bracing for the worst
The candle flickers out...
There is nothing left- you'll have to do without

Bridge
The rug was pulled out from under my feet
but, I'll keep on dancing 'til there's no more beat
Shook the foundations of all I believe,
but I'll do my best 'til I get my relief.

Chorus
Time marches on without me (without me)
Seconds and minutes surround me (surround me)
I'll leave without a sound-
buried underground....
Remember me

I'll leave without a sound-
buried underground....
Remember me

I,too, ponder the passing of time. Will it be too late for me to realize my dreams? Will it be too late to find happiness? You have put these questions so beautifully to song. Best wishes. Deb

This one was a hard truth for me, I have been chronically sick for three years now, felt good to get this one out!

Wow, this is intensely powerful John and my kind of Lyric ... very sad, but full of emotion and honesty - love this one! That said, I hope it's not a personal statement of NOW ... I have been in this spot recently, and it's not a fun place to be. If you need to chat, shoot me a Soupie. Blessings, Brother.

Thanks G, I've had my moments of frustration, and sometimes comes out in my songs, living with pain takes it's toll sometimes on our endurance, but sadly it does reflect how I feel...sometimes, but generally I'm hopeful...faith does help through adversity, I'm a witness to that truth.
