Time In the Sun

It’s nine twenty-five, I’m still on the sand
the sun has been gone for an hour
the blow of the ocean has started its rush
as I say goodbye to the sea

The salty impressions of cool evening air
have rendered me helpless to shivers unmeant
reality checks, as I gather my thoughts,
my time in the sun is over

Yet, knowing I’ve had such a wonderful day
on beaches of gold, caressed by the dawn
does offer some comfort to finish this chill
to help me surrender as I must move on

This is so well done, Mike. Just love how you took the immediate scene at the beach and unfurled it to stand as the backdrop for the 'time of your life.' Great contest entry, pal! Go get 'em. Happy Florida-ing to you. ~ Up in Chicago, home of murder (ous weather, and then there's the crime too. lol). :) gw

I remember days spent on the shore with the sea and the gulls around me. Watching sand pipers running along the shore and fiddler crabs scurrying about. Lovely. A wistful, peaceful write my friend with beautiful imagery. Well done. God Bless, JB

Super imagery Mike i especailly love the second stanza. I live 5 mins from a glorious beach but am not a sun worshiper, prefer the cool of the evening and walking instead, but the lure of the ocean is like a magnet:-) hugs Jan xx
