Time For Celebration

Pitched voices reach high merriment
as booms of laughter whip a roll--
gleeful cheers float on lamplight’s scent
prompting a gig that can’t control
wine-toasting with dear friends--it's late!
But endless tales do celebrate --
sentiments racing more hours’ toll.

Beautifully written, I've read several of your poems and find you have a very unique style, Carly. Your words and word placement seem to give all of your writes a somewhat solemn, almost melancholic, feel (or perhaps it's just my current mood). Even this upbeat piece to me feels "shadowy." This is not meant in any way to be negative but descriptive. I have very much enjoyed reading your poems and, with your permission, will re-visit your work when I have more time.
