Time and Poetry

Time. While statues fall to dust and nothing is remembered, we fear you not Ozymandias; it was a poet who brought you back into history. Words survive the onslaught of time, for each generation of poets words are written differently, but the message is the same: Do not forget you are mortal! Beauty and power are ephemeral.

Dear Jan - I read the poem "Ozymandias" for the first time and thank the gods for google. and for your talent. YOu may think I am just stroking your ego with every poem (yes and no), but I am amazed you are not more widely read here at Soup. I know you have other places where I hope you are more appreciated. love, Kathy

thank you kathy you can stroke my ego anytime. I´m quite happy having 30-40 readers, my poetry does not lend itself to mass reading
