Time
I asked what separated us, in this friendship lost
differences could never change what we found in common
distance was never far enough to keep us apart
and life, in all its absurdities could never distract us from our love
Yet we find ourselves here
parting ways without even a tear
what did it take, where did it finally break
it only took time
What about the long trudge through life
through the cold and so cruel
just to get a dream
I had once been so confident I would achieve
I had the determination to climb every mountain
the strength to face every challenge
and the belief to comfort me
even in my darkest dreams
so where did I sway
what took my passion away
it only took time
time to drift away
time to forget to pray
time to let my hopes
dissolve in the pain
it only took time
Then just as I lose my faith
right before it all slips away
I find something has changed
life becomes everything
I had worked so hard to create
but after everything
what did it take
how did I make it
it only took time
after this life time
through so many changes
through heartaches and vow breaks
in our different lives and point of views
how is it I found you again
our love can it mend
yes I think in time
it only takes time
