Till Reason Intervened

I had nearly touched the spire
Wherein reason intervened--
And labeled hope a liar,
So the council then convened.

But the quorum in its meeting
Felt discourse a useless thing,
For hope is always fleeting...
Even with the slightest wing.

Why thank you, ilene! Kind of you, and encouraging. Emily is a distant cousin, and how distant is obvious from a comparison of her works, to mine. She does fascinate me, though, and is my favorite poet--poetess? Thanks again, and have a great week...xxx...Mel

Lol. Such an admission shows that you have character--or that you are a character? No matter, just keep a Thesaurus handy and you'll be good to go. Beautiful words? Okay, I'll accept that...Webster's finest :) Love to you and the kid, who is as impudent as you (look it up).

Mel...you just know how to maneuver those words oh so cleverly. Don't let hope get away. Delightful piece.
