'til Dawn
I was a lookout, port side of our ship
So I put my weather gear on
Captain said sailor, that is your duty
You're going to be there 'til dawn
I used the big eyes, spotted an island
And called to the bridge down below
There's an island to the port side, time's on the short side
Sir, won't you please let me go
We moored in the morning and he gave me fair warning
Sailor watch how you carry on
You can leave for a while and visit the isle
But by midnight tonight we'll be gone
There was a mandolin playing, her body was swaying
Through the night the music played on
I forgot my duty, entranced by her beauty
So I sayed on the island 'til dawn
Now I sit in this jail but I can still sail
In my dreams until my time is all gone
I still sail some with my bottle of rum
And I dance with her memory 'til dawn
