for contest on the word, abandon

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
(fiction like a chocolate chip cookie - with morsels of truth)
he left my mother, when I was just a child
she was left broken, with fearless abandon
lessons came in many forms, often quite mild
melting into heart’s war she knew she’d land in
struggling to see the good in this rejection
knowing these are feelings she will soon stand in
leaving, without a grasp of lost affection
he wasn’t empathetic to her gentle soul
it seems he never valued their connection
abandoned by the love that made her heart whole
she struggled through the pain, starved of any hope
recalling, faith would lead her toward her goal
assured that someday she’d learn just how to cope
after she’d walked this road, almost a tightrope
