Thunderstorm, deluge, lightning flash Bird songs hindered suppressed There is a soft morning after Doves sing, their coos expressed Solid gray paint coats the blue sky Rain droplets wait to drip. Upon each coated leaf they sit Available for birds to sip Lightning's power displayed last night Jolted the water pump End results no water today No house work ~ no grump I have found that what is not done today awaits tomorrow..LOL In regards to housework, the dishes that need washing or loading have doubled in one day, etc..

Lately I've been burning the proverbial candle at both ends...I warmly welcome any and every excuse to slow things down, if only for a day. Beautiful poem and clear, vivid imagery. Thank you for sharing this poem. =) *7*

Procrastination ... it gets the best of us. I like when you add your little tidbits of humor in your poetry, Sarah. Your best images, in my opinion, were in stanza two where you're comparing the rain and sky to paint dripping ... loved that section!

Yes, procrastination does eliminate getting done today what could be done today..I have gotten so old that sometimes it just has to wait until later though..Thanks for the visit and for taking time to comment..Sara
