Thunder

As houses shake people think of red, when comes thunder. Safely in our rooms, on our warm beds, then comes thunder. Will you sacrifice yourself for those that you love like In those romantic stories you've read, when comes thunder? Even the most sturdy of men will feel like brittle Glass and sense vast approaching dread, when comes thunder. Women will lite slender candles to illuminate Their tattered bibles, their daily bread, when comes thunder. As I write this I hear something familiar yet strange, "You are not alone, Timothy" said the loud thunder.

This is an immensely beautiful one, Timothy. The thunder is right in saying you are not alone! And that's such a heartwarming ending. Interesting that the thunder comforts you rather than its usual reputation of frightening. I love the thunder! I especially like it mixed with a downpour of rain. We rarely have thunder storms, but when they come, I get so excited! When I was a child that thunder is the voice of God. Always, Laura

Thanks Laura! We just had a super intense one the other night. Caught a picture of lightning bolt, at just the right moment, and it looked like it was in the middle of the day (it was late at night, pitch dark!) ... You understood this perfectly, and with great insight ... depending on mind set, you can get opposite messages from nature.

To be honest thunder both comforts and frightens me... at times relaxing, while at other times so loud that the house shakes. But I like the way the ghazal form sorta gives the reader several different viewpoints.

That means a lot coming from you Russ! I have checked out your poetry page and yes it seems you have tried dozens of different styles... but I like that. I always try to find new ways of writing...

Ah, yes, the old GHAZAL. I remember trying it one time in a contest challenge here a few years ago. It was difficult to do. I sure enjoyed seeing what you came up with for that form of poetry. I don't suppose you ever heard the song Timothy, did you? It was from around 1969.(you might find the theme of it fascinating in a morbid way!)

Are you talking about the Fleetwood Mac song? "Thunder only happens when it's raining... lovers only love you when you're playing"? Ghazal's are a unique challenge... I'm glad you liked it!
