Through the Ashes
Desolation,
A desolation of my heart.
It settles over my soul,
That spills from my windows, my eyes.
So strong we once were.
So set against the storms,
Against the fiery tornadoes.
Where has it gone?
There, there you are.
I look to the windows above you,
And I see you!
You in me.
Your embers, they’re so weak now.
Yet, I stand.
You stand too.
Through the ashes,
My fire burns brighter!
A vow I make now,
To LIVE!
To love, graciously.
To burn, passionately!
Though we say so long, for now,
As the embers turn,
Through the ashes,
A phoenix shall fly,
In beautiful song.
-----
In honor of all those who have dealt with the loss of a friend, mentor, or any type of loved one.
