Three Women - One Red Dress

"You likely don't have the right dress,
but my sister's just your size."
My date brought with him this "choice" outfit
to which she'd said her goodbyes.

Now, I'm thinking it was just a joke
from him who had asked me out.
Dressed in his sister's hand-me-down,
my mind's at work, I don't pout.

He's in there dancing with someone else
I have a plan which may work.
Knowing the coat check girl, we giggle,
and trade dresses on a quirk.

She's a trooper, she'll carry this off;
her dress fits me - simply green.
Red dress goes on the floor for a show
a fan keeps her face unseen.

He stops in shock, then approaches her,
his hand put around her waist.
"Where have you been, my Cinderella?"
Fan closes, she slaps his face.

He races to the coat check counter
and claims his coat, if you please.
I please alright, and good evening sir;
he gets it, minus his keys.

Meanwhile, we exchange dresses quickly,
she's back in green on the spot.
Returning for keys he gets the news,
"Your date took your chariot.
