Three Small Words

Three small words:
«Bivirkninger må påregnes»
I’m quite certain that you don’t understand them
Those three words made me cry
Sitting outside the church
Those three words, translated from Norwegian means:
“Side effects are to be expected”
Three small words
Written in a pamphlet
I knew my diagnosis
Knew what the treatment would be
I had talked to the surgeon; that day
I had stood (still stands) next to the treatment table
Soon it would be my turn; laying on a table
Those three words
Brought it home to me
There were hope
And a good reason
To cry
