THREE SIDES TO EVERY STORY

Jane and I met on our first day Of school, Grade one, Now in 4th Grade, always had fun, Jane used to often come over to sleep, Best friends, loved each other a heap. We would stay up late, told Ghost stories, till the night was old And played with our Barbie dolls, Until it was almost light, But the next day at school, something Was not right. Once again from my lunchbox, My chocolate was gone. This happened for two weeks In a row, My mum said I should report This, to my teacher, Mrs. Bow So I did, Had no idea who would take it. Jenny and Jane, want to see you Both after school, Why would Mrs. Bow want to see us, This was not the general rule, I looked at Jane, but she looked down, She seemed upset, her face creased In a frown. So, we stayed, Jane, said Mrs, Bow, Jenny reported Her chocolate disappears every day, Is there anybody you’ve seen Acting in a strange way, Taking Jenny’s chocolate away, Every day. Jane burst into tears She was found out, she was guilty, One of her greatest fears, Well said Mrs. Bow, Jenny and Jane, I have been watching and know, That Jane stole your chocs., So off to the principal we go. Oh no, please Mrs Bow, Jane is my best friend, don’t go To the Principal, I Forgive her, Her mummy is not like mine, Just maybe giver her a few lines To write for homework. Jane hugged me and said She was sorry, I hugged her back, But was a bit sad, Jane promised me that all She would say, From that day and every day, Would be true, And so our friendship blossomed, And grew. Dearest Jennifer, I really enjoyed your story narrated in a free verse, it is very touching! Friendship is precious, and some children are kind, wise, and understand the value of being forgiving! I read some of your other poems with wonderful stories, written with depth and a great sense of humour. I am sorry I am not staying very active at PoetrySoup this year because of a memoir-writing project I am engaged with. Thank you very much for visiting my page and leaving inspiring comments. Truly appreciate, Dear Poet.

What a touching tale! It shows how forgiving true friendship can be. I see in you a great friend.... ! Even as a child, you had a heart of of gold, dear Jenny. I often think of you though may not be reading your poems and commenting for lack of time. Now my house is being painted. The work has been going on since sometime. Though the house is in total mess, I have more time as I don't do any cooking at home till everything is put back in order. So I have time to take part in contests and read poetry. I enjoyed how the teacher found out the 'cookie thief' and how the problem was solved through your forgiveness.

Dear Jennifer, what a heartfelt reflection showing the complexities of friendship and forgiveness. The way you illustrate the innocence of childhood and the challenges of trust is soul filling. Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

You’ll never guess, it was the butler…I mean the best friend. She never would have suspected her BFF. But we often have to forgive a friend to get to the better side of friendship.
