Three Lightkeepers Against the Wind
The three lightkeepers crept out into the wind
They knew time was precious
They gathered the wild flowers
The ones that would provide the most joy
The lighthouse watched with pride
urging them to be quick about it
hundreds of sailors depended upon their lights
they brought in the most optimism they could
The wind picked up, furious, eager to destroy
She was not happy about the three lightkeepers
She wanted to destroy them, to crush their hopes
To ruin their lives, but it was not to be
