Three Blind Mice

THREE BLIND MICE

I mean let’s get real everybody -
Sure as sugar, if I was a blind mouse
I wouldn’t be hassling any farmer’s wife or anybody
Armed with a carving knife in her house.

Even if the three of us felt strength in number,
“Did you ever see such a thing in your life?”
Should be “Did you ever see anything dumber?”,
Cos the only outcome can be mice-strife.

Bit like walking in Central Park with a sign-card
Saying “I am carrying a lot of money in small bills”,
And being surprised if you’re robbed hard :
Like taking candy from children’s tills.

And speaking of carving knives,
If you ask me I’d say they were lucky
To lose only their tails, cos when wives
Are spooked they can get plucky.

Lots of women frightened and angry
Might be moved to reduce these guys’
Testosterone permanently,
So they wouldn’t again attack and surprise.

So funny, Syd! You had me laughing all the way through the poem and then I get to the last verse and take pity on the poor mice losing their "testosterone permanently" to angry women. It happens, you know, whether it's a man or a mouse! Thoroughly enjoyed! Love, Carolyn
